Technology Infusion

"Technology should be seamlessly infused into the learning environment with students accessing hardware and software as needed to pursue the greater goals of completing their problem-based tasks. When used effectively, technology becomes a powerful partner in the learning process, and particularly, for differentiating instruction."

Dr. Nancy Sulla - Students Taking Charge

Reflection Questions:

How do you use technology in your classroom to differentiate instruction?

What technologies do you use transformationally? (Technologies that allow you to do things you could not do without technology)

  1. Technology is a huge part of my everyday lesson planning and instruction. I use the smartboard to teach and allow students to interact with the subject matter. I collaborate with the speech teacher an use all sorts of assistive technology to help the most impaired and unintelligable students communicate with their peers and classmates.

Email as a way to communicate on a daily basis with parents and employers I feelI couldn't live without in my classroom.

    1. Use of technology is useful and necessary however the problem is that we have limited resources in this capacity which makes the true inclusion of technology in our classrooms infrequent.

    2. I have always used technology in my classroom on a daily basis. For one, the smartboard has allowed me to provide instruction that improves student engagement relating to the subject-matter. I have also used the Waterford program that develops reading and math skills on an individual basis for each student.

UNFORTUNATELY, most schools do not have the required technology to support every single student every single day. It is extremely difficult to run a Learning Active Technology Infused Classroom (LATIC) when you can only provide the services needed every other week.

  3. As a math teacher I use the usual graphing technologies and web sites that can be seen in just about every secondary math classroom. But I have been providing my students with video tutorials for each unit for quite a while now. This has been a huge help to the students who are absent, or need additional instruction to help them learn concepts or remind them of concepts and skills that they have forgotten. I produce these videos myself, or harvest them from youtube.
